Head Teachers Welcome

Welcome to Catcott Primary School's website. I hope that this website proves to be helpful and informative. I also hope that if you are visiting the site for the first time that it gives you a feel for the school that we are so proud of.

Catcott Primary School is situated in the village of Catcott, but serves a wider rural area along the Polden Hills including the villages of Edington, Chilton Polden, Sutton Mallet, Stawell and Burtle. We currently have 200 pupils on roll, organised into 7 single year group classes. Pupils that leave us in Year 6 move on to Crispin Secondary School in Street.

Our School aims to:

* Create a happy and caring learning environment
* Inspire all to achieve their potential
* Create high self-esteem, so that pupils become valued members of society

The school is a positive place, which believes that all pupils have their own individual strengths.  Teaching and non-teaching staff work closely as a team. By providing a broad, relevant and stimulating curriculum, we aim to cater for these individual strengths, whilst providing the skills, attitudes and knowledge that will enable the children to succeed at secondary level and beyond.
The governors and staff believe that high self-esteem is the basis upon which strong academic and social development is based and acknowledge that attitudes towards learning and to society are developed mainly at the primary age.

In short, children who are secure and who feel good about themselves, will learn best. The school works hard to maintain an atmosphere where it is "cool" to succeed.
Parents are encouraged to play a full part in their children's education; either by helping in the classroom or through supporting their children with homework activities; especially at Key Stage 2.

If you would like to visit the school, please don't hesitate to contact us to make an appointment; I look forward to meeting you; all necessary contact details are on our Home Page.
